BUMBA-MEU-BOI DO MARANHÃO: O sotaque de Zabumba na perspectiva da Lei n°10.639/2003

Abstract

This dissertation deals with the Bumba-meu-boi of Maranhão: the Zabumba accent from the perspective of Law No. 10.639/2003. The objective of the research was to investigate the teaching of Bumba-meu-boi, the Zabumba accent, in the context of Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Maranhão History and Culture, with a view to developing a Teaching Guidelines Guide for Art and History teachers at the University College (COLUN). The investigation started from the central problematization: how can the teaching of Bumba-meu-boi, the Zabumba accent, contribute to compliance with Law No. 10.639/2003 at the University College? The main bibliographic references used were: Albernaz (2004), Azevedo Neto (1997), Arantes (1981), Carvalho (1996), Carvalho (1999), Gomes (2012), Ferretti (2007), Reis (2002), among others. The procedural method adopted was the Instrumental Case Study. The research subjects were the school manager, the pedagogical coordinator, the Art and History teachers, and the 8th and 9th grade classes of the Final Years of Elementary School. The data collection instruments were systematic observation and interviews. Data analysis and interpretation occurred through response tables. The dissertation is organized into the following sections: the first presents the introduction, describing the theoretical, methodological, and organizational configuration of the research; The second section presented a historical retrospective of Bumba-meu-boi in Brazil and the state of Maranhão, highlighting Bumba-meu-boi with a Zabumba accent. The third section addressed popular culture in confronting prejudice and discrimination. The fourth section described the context of Bumba-meu-boi in light of Law No. 10.639/03. The fifth section presented the characteristics of the school studied, the methodological steps of the research, the analysis and interpretation of the data, and the educational product entitled "Guide to Teaching Guidelines: on Teaching Bumba-meu-boi with a Zabumba Accent." The research concluded that the school studied requires ongoing training in Bumba-meu-boi with a Zabumba Accent, as prescribed by Law No. 10.639/2003.
