TEMAS CONTEMPORÂNEOS TRANSVERSAIS EM CENAS DO TEATRO DO OPRIMIDO NA SALA DE AULA

Abstract

The proposals of the Theater of the Oppressed method consist in the reflection and awareness of the subjects about the modes of social organization from the relationship between oppressed and oppressor, aiming at the transformation of reality. Although this method in its genesis has not been prepared for the school, it can become functional in the school context, because when we relate the theatrical practice with the themes that are close to the reality of students, we are enabling various forms of learning through the exchange of experiences and interaction with others, allowing the student to realize that this language, in addition to providing knowledge, makes the individual enlightened and participatory in society, since the intentions of the theater in school is not to form a student actor or artist, but gives directions for this student to know and understand the world, himself/herself, the importance and influences that art and its languages have in human life. This research investigates the practice of theater in the classroom, through the method of the Theater of the Oppressed, using specific Transversal Contemporary Themes, in order to contribute and stimulate the students' social critical sense. For this, we used the instrument of action research, prioritizing the qualiquantitative approach, through mixed questionnaires, with open and closed questions, before, during and after the application of the theatrical workshop, in the study with the first year high school students from Centro de Ensino Maria Firmina dos Reis. So, we took as our theoretical basis the Theatre of the Oppressed method (2009, 2019) and other studies dedicated to this theatrical proposal and to Theatre Pedagogy. Through the investigations, we found that the reflections made possible by the interface between the Theater of the Oppressed as a theatrical practice and the Transversal Contemporary Themes pointed to the expansion of the capacity of the participating students in their decision-making processes, critical reflection of reality and exercise of citizenship, by admitting that this experience was positive to obtain understanding on how to deal with and combat the various social problems present in their daily lives. Due to the ideas discussed in the speech, they understood the importance of their performances as citizens committed to their realities, enabling this method, thus developed, to be relevant in the cultural and social development of the students by providing transformations, through their practice and appreciation, and that it can become a theatrical proposal in the Maria Firmina dos Reis Education Center.
