“Plantando na esperança de sair a terra”: experiências de luta em educação popular e emancipação humana na comunidade Viva Deus

Abstract

This work seeks to bring the collaboration of action research, from the perspective of Popular Education, to the process of Human Emancipation of the subjects of a landless encampment, called Viva Deus Comunity, which is materialized through the act of planting, as a referral of overcoming achieved through the circle of culture and the situation-problem-challenge, as the methodological tools that enabled the achievement of the results described here. The experiences of struggle and resistance lived in the community were made possible by the triad of teaching, research and extension, through GEPEEP – Group of Teaching, Research and Extension in Popular Education, of the Federal University of Maranhão, campus of Imperatriz. The community in question is a landless encampment that fights for the regularization of the land on which they live. I also seek to bring the historical construction of the concept of Human Emancipation, and then present it from the perspective of Popular Education, emphasizing the importance of awareness and autonomy in this process. The theoretical foundation is based on the approach of Karl Marx (1985, 1996, 2010) and his perspective of overcoming capitalism, Theodor Adorno (1995), in collaboration with the Kantian concept of enlightenment, and in particular, Paulo Freire (1967, 1979, 1981,1986, 1987, 1989, 1997, 2009), with its progressive and emancipatory approach to education. Each of these authors contributed to the historical construction of the concept of Human Emancipation. Finally, I bring up the contradictory dimension of the existing conflict, given the complex nature of the social relationships that guide the community.
