“Ocupar a universidade pública”: memórias da atuação política do movimento estudantil na Universidade Federal do Maranhão (2000 -2007)

Abstract

This research delves into the actions of the student movement at the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA) through the DCE 17 de setembro, with a particular focus on the activities of the Lagoa Amarela History Center during the period of 2000 to 2007. This timeframe is marked by the educational policies and programs implemented during the transition from the governments of Fernando Henrique Cardoso (FHC) to Lula. The methodology employed involves the analysis of both documentary and oral sources. The study explores the historiographical connections of the student movement, its relationship with political parties, and the influence of the 1988 Federal Constitution. It also examines the historical resistance of UFMA and the educational policies and programs, such as the Program to Support Plans for Restructuring and Expansion of Federal Universities (REUNI), and the Saudações Estudantis, which amplify the voices of former students regarding their experiences. This research positions the actions of the student movement within a broader context linked to the existence and expansion of public universities, but primarily to access and permanence, aiming to strengthen the memory and importance of the articulation of the student movement at UFMA. It also connects to the historical resistance for the guarantee of rights and the mobilization of the student movement in Brazil and Maranhão."
