CONTRIBUIÇÕES DO AUDIOVISUAL SUL-COREANO PARA A APRENDIZAGEM DE ARTES VISUAIS NO ENSINO MÉDIO: reflexões e possibilidades

Abstract

The research in question took place with the 200 CHL class in Visual Arts at Liceu Maranhense School. The class initially had 44 enrolled students, but the research initially involved 23 of these students, and later continued with 12 students. It focused on the use of South Korean audiovisual material in the classroom, specifically in the high school Visual Arts classes at Liceu Maranhense School. The students' interest in South Korean culture, especially due to the prominence of the Korean Pop movement, was observed. However, it was noticed that the students do not comprehend the political, social, and aesthetic reflections that this culture can provide. The research aims to use audiovisual material as a tool to sensitize the students, studying the basic aspects of film language. Before the research, there was a perception that the students had an uncritical and innocent view of images, both in Art history and in mass media and culture. However, when working with films that address political and social issues, it was noted that the students do perceive the subtle discourses present in the photography and editing of the films. Furthermore, it was possible to work with these students not only to overcome mere familiarity with the use of social media, but also to enable the students to use such resources in a more conscious and critical way through experience. With the reform of high school education, options emerged for working with audiovisual material through the social responsibility discipline. This discipline allows for the discussion of topics such as mental health, politics, citizenship, and decolonialism. Therefore, the scientific problem of the research is to investigate how to enhance the aesthetic enjoyment and develop the critical eye of high school students using South Korean filmography in social responsibility classes. To support the research, the reflections of Freitas and Coutinho (2013), Aguirre (2011), Eisenstein (2002), and Martin (2009) were mainly used as theoretical references. The research adopts a qualitative approach, and the data is collected through questionnaires, reports, videos, and photographic images.
