“ONDE ESTÃO, ELAS, NA EDUCAÇÃO SUPERIOR? Representatividade feminina, a partir dos campi do Continente/UFMA

Abstract

This study is part of the research “Afrodescendant Female Professors in Higher Education: Epistemic Voices”, linked to the Diversity, Culture and Inclusion line, expanding the debates on the presence of women in positions of power. It analyzes the female representation in management positions at UFMA, on campuses on the mainland, considering the context of restructuring higher education. It has a qualitative approach with a historical perspective, of a descriptive/explanatory nature, which values ​​the voices of female professors in higher education and their experiences in management positions. It uses a bibliographic and documentary survey and, through semi-guided interviews, dialogues with professors who hold or have held some leadership position within the Campus where they work, in the period 2013-2023, when the campuses on the mainland of Maranhão were implemented and operated. It is supported by the studies of Almeida (2019), Alvarenga; Carneiro (2003), Silva; Wenetz (2022), Arrazola (2012), Lima (2015), Mignolo (2017), Perrot (2017), Ribeiro (2018), Scott (1989), among others, and discusses the sexual division of labor, the feminization of teaching, and power relations structured through the dimensions of gender, race, and social class, questioning the hegemonic, universalist logic of feminism, based on decolonial and Afrocentric studies, analyzing the trajectory of women and their epistemic, subjective, social, and structural paths of access to teaching in Higher Education, specifically at the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA), seeking analytical contributions to think about a plural university and the creation of public policies for access and permanence of women in spaces of knowledge production, and institutional policies that guarantee the entry and permanence of women in spaces of power, adding to the construction of a democratic University, which ensure social justice.
